There’s a ton of streaming content hitting Max this month, including some cool new series you won’t find anywhere else. The most obvious is one Dune prequel that has been in the works for a while, along with another keepers adaptations, many home improvement shows, documentaries on Ted Turner and James Carville, and much more. Here are our picks for the best new movies and shows coming to the streaming service in November 2024.
Undefeated Fighting Girl (November 2)
The new Adult Swim series from director Juston Gordon-Montgomery tells the story of Andi, a young girl who thirsts to become the greatest professional wrestler of all time. But to climb that mountain, she’ll have to overcome obstacles in and out of the ring. Behind the success is Gordon-Montgomery DC Super Hero Girlsso it’s no surprise that the network is giving him his passion project.
Dune: The Prophecy (November 17)
Opinions about Frank Herbert (and son Brian). Dune sequels and prequels are mixed (to put it mildly), but we’re still excited in advance for the HBO original series Dune: The Prophecy. Based on the 2012 novel, it serves as a prequel set 10,000 years before the film, with sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen founding the Bene Gesserit order. The budget seems high, and with only six episodes, it doesn’t seem like a huge commitment.
Get Millie Black (November 25)
Tamara Lawrance stars as ex-Scotland Yard detective Millie Black, who returns home to Kingston, Jamaica only to become embroiled in a missing persons case that turns out to be far more complicated than meets the eye. Created by the writer Marlon James, who wrote about Jamaica brilliantly in the Booker Prize winner. A brief history of seven murdersthis could be a sleep.
